KARACHI:

Iran, Pakistan Army and Navy emerged as winners on the second day of the ongoing International Beach Kabaddi Tournament in Islamabad.

Iran, who crushed Afghanistan 43-12, dominated their match against Pakistan Air Force (PAF), taking a 13-point lead in the first round. The visitors never gave PAF an opportunity to hit back in the remaining four rounds and sealed the victory 57-18.

It was double delight for Iran as they carried the winning momentum, outclassing Wapda 60-34 to book a place in the final against Army today.

"It's an achievement to make it to the final," Iran manager Mohammad Reza Maqsoodlu told The Express Tribune. "The level of competition is very high here and we have learnt a lot."

Meanwhile, defending champions Army also celebrated twin wins, defeating Wapda 38-20 and then thrashing Afghanistan 60-16 in a one-sided game. Navy, on the other hand, overcame PAF 35-32 and then went on to defeat Afghanistan 55-31 in their second match.

Afghanistan's third defeat has made them one of the weakest sides in the competition.
