Information minister says Nawaz and Zardari had dug up their own ‘political grave’

Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said the upcoming visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to Pakistan will further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Speaking over telephone to his Saudi counterpart, Turki Abdullah Al-Shabanah, the minister felicitated him on assuming new responsibilities. Existing cordial relations between the two countries were also discussed, said a statement issued in Islamabad.

He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were brethren countries and the relationship between them was based on mutual respect, cooperation and trust. The minister said in the days to come new vistas of cooperation would be opened up between the two countries in various fields, including media.



Pakistan is likely to sign a number of investment deals, including the construction of multi-billion-dollar oil refinery in the port city of Gwadar, during the upcoming visit of the Saudi crown prince next month.

Meanwhile speaking at Afkar-e-Taza festival in Lahore, the information minister said an agreement was being worked out to ease visa restrictions for residents of 66 countries. He said the PTI government was working to depict a positive image of Pakistan in the comity of nations.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision expands beyond political arena to encompass social, economic and other sectors,” he remarked. The premier was working to create a society based on the pattern of Madina state where justice, tolerance and merit would prevail, he added.

Responding to a question, he said PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had dug up their own ‘political grave’ and were heading towards the end of their political careers.
