Past 24 hours: Six killed, over 1,000 injured in accidents across Punjab

63% of the accidents involved motorcyclists

LAHORE: At least six people died and 1,024 were injured in 934 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab over the last 24 hours.

Out of the injured, 584 were seriously wounded and needed to be shifted to different hospitals.

Meanwhile, 440 minor injured victims were treated at the site of the incident by medical teams.

The majority (63 %) involved motorcycles, making it clear that effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline is necessary.

Further data showed that 430 drivers, 18 underage drivers, 156 pedestrians and 444 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

Eight killed, 973 injured in road accidents across Punjab

The statistics show that 283 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 284 persons, making the provincial capital the region with the most accidents. It was followed by 84 accidents in Faisalabad with 97 victims and Multan with 60 RTCs and 62 victims.

The details further revealed that 1,030 victims were affected by road traffic crashes, including 832 males and 198 females.

The age demographics revealed that 153 of the victims were under 18 years of age, 543 were between 18 and 40 years and the other 334 were reported to be above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 729 motorbikes, 146 auto rickshaws, 92 motorcars, 50 vans, 15 passenger buses, 28 trucks and 124 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
