ISLAMABAD: The Hindu community in Karachi on Friday arranged 'special puja' to pray for the development, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

Participants of the prayers rejected the Indian propaganda about alleged mistreatment of the community members in Pakistan and said, "We are enjoying basic facilities of life at our doorsteps, besides protection of our lives and properties ... we are happily living in Pakistan."

The event was part of New Year celebrations in Karachi.

The community was holding a "Satyanarayan Puja" to pray for peace, security and progress of Pakistan in 2019. They told APP that they never felt insecure and were free to perform their religious rituals in the Muslim-majority country.

One of the worshipers even went on to suggest that the mainstream propaganda that 'minorities were not safe' in Pakistan was peddled at India's behest.

They expressed their confidence in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, saying, "We have high hopes from this government that they will do good for our community."
