KARACHI: If you thought Atif Aslam's 12 Baje was a welcome change, you were wrong. It was merely a graceful stopover. The singer's latest song for Bollywood film Hum Chaar isn’t awful but it isn’t anything worth writing home about either.
Soulful and soothing are probably the first words that pop to mind when you hear the song. While that's not wrong, Auliya is just another track churned out from the random-Sufi song-generator that functions heavily in Bollywood these days.
PHOTO: INSTAGRAM/ ATIF ASLAMThe harmonium overlaying, coupled with the star's high notes, is meant to give that Tajdar-e-Haram vibe but the composition fails to grow on you, unlike the popular qawwali or any of Atif’s other singles.
Atif Aslam makes powerful comeback with '12 Bajay'
The Dil Diyan Gallan hit maker's vocals are profoundly melodious yes, but we are already aware of his talent. His variation and range is appeasing and he's definitely done a great job as far as the singing is concerned. But Auliya is a song for Bollywood music enthusiasts, rather than hardcore Atif fans who were reminded of their 'ain’t true love' with 12 Baje.
