Dengue monitoring: Target 40 houses per day: official

Additional DC urged officials to take measures to curb dengue outbreak through indoor and outdoor activities

RAWALPINDI: Forty houses should be targeted every day, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Saima Younus chairing a weekly review meeting of district emergency response committee for dengue at DC Office Rawalpindi.

Regular monitoring and spray can help prevent dengue outbreak in post-monsoon season, she said urging the officials to fight against mosquitos causing dengue fever.



Younus called for overcoming shortfalls by learning from the previous mistakes to make micro plan more effective from the last year. She told that no case of dengue has yet been reported this year which is a positive sign.

The ADC added that it is necessary for the staff and field workers to also focus on outdoor activities with indoor activities to curb the larvae of dengue. This will help control the epidemic in the peak season of September and October.

Outdoor monitoring and fumigation activities should be increased to stop the growth of larvae, which would decrease the risk of dengue fever. Officials from the health department told that no cases of dengue have been reported in Rawalpindi in 2019.



From 01st January to 07th  January, 343 indoor vector surveillance teams checked 43214 houses in Chaklala Cantonment Board, Rawalpindi Cantonment  Board, Potohar Town (Urban) and Rawal Town, out of which only 06 were found positive. According to the outdoor surveillance report, 185 teams checked 29652 spots  in the same areas out of which null was found positive.
