The Punjab government has decided to establish shelter homes for the homeless in all districts across the province.
“The shelter homes will be constructed in all districts in phases so that the homeless are not forced to sleep under the open sky in harsh weather conditions,” said Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday.
The state is fulfilling its responsibility of providing shelter and food to the needy. “It is the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) government’s prime agenda to take the necessary steps for the betterment and the welfare of the masses,” he said.
It is our responsibility to ensure the rehabilitation of those the deprived segments of society. The government is taking the necessary steps to promote this passion and establishing a welfare project such as a shelter home is an important step in this regard, he added.
Helping those in need is an effective means of promoting brotherhood and affection in society. On the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the construction of shelter homes in Lahore and Rawalpindi is in full progress, he stated. He maintained that he is personally monitoring the progress of these projects.
The chief minister maintained that the shelter home in Lahore will soon be completed and that the authorities concerned have been issued the necessary direction. The purpose of constructing these shelter homes is to protect the homeless from harsh weather conditions as well as to provide them with food and shelter, he said.
The shelter homes in the provincial capital will a state-of-the-art initiative of the Punjab government, he expressed. He said that the government has provided shelter to those who were earlier forced to sleep on the roads by arranging temporary shelter homes while inmates were also provided dinner and breakfast.
Similarly, free-of-cost medical treatment and transport facilities are also being arranged. We will give these people back their rights, he concluded.
