It is the year of biopics. While Bollywood biopics like Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi, Shakeela and Gunjan Saxena are already in the pipe line, another major biopic titled PM Narendra Modi - based on the Prime Minister of India - will soon hit the screens, reported Times of India.

The role of PM Modi will be essayed by Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who is now known as Vivekanand Oberoi. Directed by Omung Kumar, the first poster of the film will be out on January 7, 2019.

Oberoi will return to Hindi films after a long break. The details of the upcoming biopic were shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, on his Twitter account. Adarsh wrote, "It's official. Vivekanand Oberoi (Vivek Oberoi) to star in Narendra Modi biopic, titled #PMNarendraModi. Directed by Omung Kumar. Produced by Sandip Singh. First look poster will be launched on 7 Jan 2019. Filming starts mid-Jan 2019.''

The director of the upcoming biopic confirmed the news. Kumar, who has directed biographical dramas like Mary Kom and Sarbjit previously, has now taken over the project on Modi ahead of the 2019 general elections. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal was initially roped in to play the role but the actor backed out due to unknown reasons.

The biopic on the life of the Indian PM was announced four years ago. The shooting will start from mid-January 2019.

This is not all though. Another biopic of former Indian PM Manmohan Singh is about to hit the screens as well. Anupam Kher plays the titular character in film, titled The Accidental Prime Minister.
