ISLAMABAD: The registrar office of the Islamabad High Court has raised objections over two appeals filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and one by Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia and Flagship references.

However, a number has been allotted to the appeal of Nawaz. The former premier’s appeal has been allotted number 1/2019 as it was the first appeal to be filed in the beginning of the year.

Nawaz’s counsel and NAB’s prosecutor will appear today (Friday) in the high court to address the objections.

Nawaz’s counsel will argue for suspension of punishment in the Al-Azizia reference, while NAB’s prosecutor will try to increase Nawaz’s seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia case. It is learnt that NAB will also challenge the court’s acquittal of the former premier in the Flagship case.

According to the high court’s online status, the registrar office raised objections over Nawaz’s one appeal and NAB’s two appeals.

It is pertinent to mention that during the current week appeals were filed against the accountability court’s December 24 verdict.
