Delegation congratulates Sardar Shamim Khan on taking oath as new LHC CJ

LAHORE: Expelling the misconceptions portrayed against Pakistan, a delegation of Indian lawyers urged both the countries to come forward to encourage peace in the region.

The delegation, comprising of 32 advocates, led by Punjab Haryana Bar’s chairman Partap Singh reached Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) where the bar’s president Noor Samand Khan, Secretary Hassan Warraich and senior lawyers accorded them a warm welcome.

The Indian lawyer Partap Singh said the members of the delegation were very happy over their visit to Pakistan, adding they found Pakistanis quite different from the impression that had been created against them in India. He stressed both the countries to come forward together to promote peace and prosperity.

The delegation also met with Chief Justice Lahore High Court Sardar Shamim Khan and congratulated him on taking oath as the new CJ LHC. They also lauded the beauty of the historic building of the LHC.

CJ LHC Sardar Shamim briefed the delegation about the principal seat and its regional benches. The judicial systems, as well as the common laws of both countries, were also discussed. The bar representatives vowed that the relations should be strengthened between both the countries and there should be an atmosphere of peace where the nation of India and Pakistan could easily meet with each other.

The delegation arrived in Lahore on January 2 to attend different functions being hosted by the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC).

It (the delegation) reached Lahore through Wagha border where PbBC Vice Chairman Jam Younis and its tour committee’s chairman Rana Intizar welcomed them. The Indian delegation is likely to stay in Lahore for five days during which they would attend a conference of the PbBC and other activities.
