KPK sports budget exceeds Rs1bn

The budget for sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exceeded Rs1 billion for the first time in the province’s history.

The budget for sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exceeded Rs1 billion for the first time in the province’s history.


Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah addressed a press conference after the budget announcement and said that Rs440 million will fund on-going schemes.


Rs40 million from these funds will go towards extending the Lala Ayub hockey stadium. Rs20 million will pay for the renovation of Peshawar's Qayyum Sports Complex and another Rs10 million has been allocated for the construction of Arbab Niaz stadium.


The provincial government also plans to build Wali Khan stadium in Charsadda.
