Crackdown: Police shoot one, arrest 46

The outgoing year saw action against the people involved in manufacture and sale of gutka

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police shot dead a suspect and injured 46 other suspects in 37 encounters in 2018. The police arrested 17 suspected terrorists, 56 dacoits, 415 street criminals, 449 proclaimed offenders and 1,086 absconders, among other suspected outlaws, according to the police spokesperson. The outgoing year also saw action against the people involved in manufacture and sale of mainpuri and peddling of illegally imported gutka. The police arrested or detained 1,185 people involved in these trades and lodged 1,260 cases.
