Curbing pilferage: IESCO books 10 for power theft

IESCO Operations Manager says strict action will be taken against those found involved in power theft

RAWALPINDI: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has lodged 10 FIRs in respective Rawalpindi police stations against power theft during its ongoing campaign.

IESCO Rawalpindi Circle Operations Manager Umer Farooq told APP that strict action, in accordance with the law, was being taken against those found involved in power theft. In this regard, he said that 10 people, who were caught red-handed, had been sent behind bars during the campaign.

Farooq expressed the resolve that the incidents of electricity theft would be stopped, utilising all available resources and with legal force for eradicating the menace completely. He said that an awareness campaign has also been launched to encourage citizens to come forward and report electricity theft cases within their localities.
