Singer Usher files for divorce from estranged wife

Couple announced their separation nine months ago in a joint statement

After two years of marriage, singer-songwriter Usher has filed for a divorce from wife Grace Miguel. The couple announced their separation nine months ago, reported People magazine.

They confirmed the breakup in a joint statement. "After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives."

The two added in the statement, "The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward."

Usher, 40 and Grace, 49 were last captured together in late June whilst they were out for dinner in Los Angeles. The Yeah! singer filed for the divorce in Georgia. According to the legal documentation, the pair reached a confidential settlement agreement.

Usher began dating the music executive back in 2009, not long after his split from stylist Tameka Foster, who he married two years prior. They have two sons together: 11-year-old Usher V and 10-year-old Naviyd.

Usher proposed to Grace in January 2015. They eloped in September of the same year before jetting off to Havana, Cuba for their honeymoon.
