Speaking at the occasion, Member of Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Muhammad Adnan said the government was committed to improving the health sector and major improvements in this area would be visible soon.
He said the government was seriously concerned about the health issues in the country and health was one of the present government’s top priorities. He added that healthcare indicators had been on the decline for decades.
Adnan further stated that the administration of health in Islamabad was scattered but soon the residents of the capital would see a tangible improvement in health facilities being provided. He said the government was paying special attention to improve facilities at public sector hospitals in the country.
He said the government was going to start a health insurance programme in the country under which 25 million Health Insurance Cards would be distributed among poor people. The purpose of health card was to provide best healthcare facilities to deserving people free of charge, he said.
Adnan informed that the range of this card was being extended to the whole country. The government, under the vision of the Prime Minister, had been working sincerely to give relief to the people and bring changes in their lives. He reiterated his government's commitment to providing job opportunities for the youth.
He further said four new hospitals would be established in Islamabad to facilitate the people. The government is also working on resolving the issue of shortage of staff in Islamabad hospitals, he added.
He further said along with diabetes, centers for other diseases like heart, kidneys and eyes would be opened soon.
