HYDERABAD: Four people, including a father and son, were killed in an armed assault in a village in Shikarpur district on Thursday. The police and villagers said that an old rivalry between two groups of the Kharos community in the river-bed village in Lakhi Ghulam Shah taluka was cause of the incident.

A group of around 10 armed men, reportedly working for Abdul Qadir Kharos, opened fire on the people coming out from the guest house of Sijawal Kharos. Sijawal, 60, his 30-year-old son, Bilawal, and 25-year-old Abid Kharos died on the spot. Naimat Kharos, a middle aged person, later died in the hospital.

The assailants did not allow families of the slain persons to take away the bodies reportedly for around five hours. The villagers complained while talking to the local media that the police arrived around six hours after the incident, letting the killers easily escape.

The bodies were later taken to taluka hospital, Lakhi Ghulam Shah, for postmortem. The deceased were laid to rest on Friday.

Rehmatullah Kharos and Mir Hassan Kharos told the local media that the killer Abdul Qadir alias Angaro Kharos and his associates killed the four men. They complained that the police have not taken action even though Sindh inspector-general took notice of the incident.

They appealed the government and the judiciary to take notice.
SHO Khuda Bux Ghunio said a police picket has been set up in the area. He confirmed that no suspect could be arrested so far.
