Nawaz shifted from Adiala to Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail
The ousted prime minister was shifted from Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail to Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat on Tuesday after the court accepted his transfer application.
Addressing the media outside of Kot Lakhpat jail, senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said the country has never before seen the kind of havoc wreaked by the current government.
Iqbal claimed that the PML-N government had pulled Pakistan out of the country's worst electricity crisis and initiated the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
An accountability court on Monday sentenced the former premier to seven-year rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty in the Al-Azizia reference, one of the three graft cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with an apex court order.
Nawaz and his family members have already been convicted in the Avenfield case. However, the accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik acquitted Sharif in Flagship reference.
