Professionals to renovate Frere Hall’s garden

KARACHI: The committee constituted for restoration of garden that originally surrounded Frere Hall, has embarked upon a scheme to generate funds for the cause on self-help basis.

The committee comprising professionals including architects, qualified conservationists, artists and town planners has also developed a blue print for the cause along with that for renovation of the hall’s century-old library.

Shahid Firoze, head of the committee, briefing a meeting jointly chaired by Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Ahmed Shalwani and Mayor Syed Wasim Akhter, said that renovation of Frere Hall was mainly focused on the revival of the garden around the hall besides its library with equal attention towards conservation of old books, manuscripts, murals and paintings.
