ISLAMABAD: A day after chambers of lawyers, allegedly built on land owned by the Post Office in Sector F-8 Kutchery, were demolished by the employees of the Post Office, a case was registered against six lawyers for their alleged attempts to grab state land.

The case was registered at the Margalla Police Station on an application filed by Pakistan Post Officer Muhammad Iklaq.

Ikhlaq, in his application, stated that Saeed Khursheed (who is currently a candidate for the upcoming Islamabad Bar Association elections), along with around 10 to 15 associates, were busy setting up illegal chambers on land owned by the Pakistan Post.

When the post office’s employees asked Khursheed to stop his illegal activities, he became enraged and misbehaved with the post office’s staff, argued with them and threatened them with dire consequences.

Moreover, Ikhlaq claimed in the application that when they told them to stop occupying state land, Khursheed and his accomplices allegedly illegally detained officers of Pakistan Post and threatened them with dire consequences.

Based on the application, the police registered a case against Zafar Khokhar and six others.

There was no word on whether any of the suspects named in the case were arrested or not.

Last Friday, chambers of lawyers built in the district courts had been demolished overnight.

It prompted protest from the lawyers who boycotted the courts and even locked the access routes to the courts.
