National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Thursday issued production orders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Saad Rafique.

According to the lower house secretariat, the production orders have been issued so that the PML-N leader can attend the National Assembly session in Islamabad.

The former railway minister is currently in custody of the country’s top anti-corruption watchdog after the PML-N leader and his brother Salman Rafique's pre-arrest bail applications were rejected by the Lahore High Court (LHC) earlier this month.

Rafique brothers’ NAB nightmare comes true

Rafique brothers were later shifted to the NAB complex at Lahore’s Thokar Niaz Baig area amid tight security.

PML-N had requested NA Speaker Asad Qaiser to issue production orders of Saad Rafique so that he may attend the session of the lower house in his capacity as an MNA.

The production order has been issued as per the rule 2007, rule 108 in NA procedure and action.

As per the regulations, the speaker can summon any member of the lower house, whose presence the speaker finds necessary for the parliamentary session.
