LONDON: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists that new signing Jordan Henderson can follow in his footsteps, also adding that his energy will be vital for the Reds in the next season. Gerrard hopes Henderson will prove to be a shrewd acquisition for club manager Kenny Dalglish in Liverpool’s race for the top four next seasons. “I think it is a really positive signing,” said Gerard. “Liverpool needs a new Gerrard and it will need a new Jamie Carragher. That’s what all good football clubs do.” The midfielder had first-hand experience with Henderson last November, having played with the 20-year-old fellow midfielder for England in the friendly against France.
