
Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi on Monday said the scheme would start in the beginning of 2019.
Abbasi said that in this project, cycles would be made available for male students and travelling vouchers to female students. Also, scooties would be provided to degree classes and university students. He added that in order to provide relief to the students, the vehicles would be given on easy installments.
300 women to get motorcycles today
Abbasi said travelling vouchers would be given to female students of metric and intermediate so that they don't have to spend money on pick and drop and reach schools on time. He pointed out there were 53,000 schools and 550 colleges, where around 50 million students study in the province.
Sellers urged to give helmets with motorcycles
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court has ordered motorcycle sellers to provide free helmets with new motorcycles. The court also sought further suggestions to make motorcycle riding safe in the city.
During the hearing, LHC Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi ordered that a motorcycle without a helmet should not be sold.
“Steps should be taken to make motorcycle ride safe,” he said. The CJ added that even changes to the manufacturing of the motorcycles can be made if need be. On the request of Advocate Azhar Siddiqui, the court directed officials to take measures within 15 days.
