The terrorists include abettor of the attack on 2016 Christian Colony in Peshawar and those behind attacks on education institutes in Swat.
According to ISPR, a total of 34 persons including 21 armed forces men, nine Frontier Constabulary, two police officials and two civilians were martyred as a result of separate terrorism incidents. At least 19 others were injured in the attacks.
The army chief also awarded life imprisonment to 20 convicts.
The convicts were tried by special military courts and confessed to their crimes before the judicial magistrate during their respective trials, ISPR added.
Army chief ratifies death sentence of 13 terror convicts
Details of the sentences are as follows:
Ibrar, a member of proscribed organization, was involved in abetting suicidal bombers in attacking the Christian Colony near Peshawar by planning the attack and providing weapons/suicidal jackets/ transportation to the suicide bombers.
Hameedur Rehman, a member of proscribed organization, was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies and Armed Forces leading to martyrdom of Major General Sana Ullah Khan, Lieutenant Colonel Tauseef Ahmed, Naib Subedar Muhammad Aslam and 18 soldiers.
Said Ali, a member of proscribed organization, was also involved in attacking armed forces and LEAs resulting in martyrdoms of a civilian Shah Nazar, Naib Subedar Muhammad Hanif, Havildar Muhammad Naseer, Havildar Muhammad Qayyum Ahmad and two other soldiers.
COAS ratifies death sentence of 11 hardcore terrorists
Fida Hussain, Razaullah, Rahimullah, Umar Zada, Amjad Ali, Abdur Rahman, Ghulam Rahim, Muhammad Khan, Rahimullah, Rashid Iqbal, Muhammad Ghafar and Rehman Ali - members of proscribed organisation who were involved in attacking LEAs.
Military Courts
Since the establishment of military courts, cases of 717 accused terrorists have been sent to the military courts by the federal government, ISPR has informed.
According to the military's media wing,"Of the 717 cases, 546 have been finalised by the military courts. Out of these 546 finalised cases, 310 terrorists were awarded a death penalty while 234 were awarded rigorous imprisonment of varied duration ranging from life imprisonment to a minimum duration of five years."
While two people accused have also been acquitted.
Out of the 310 sentenced to death, 56 terrorists have been executed after completion of due legal process beyond the military courts' decisions which included their appeal in superior civil courts and rejection of their mercy petition both by COAS and the President of Pakistan, ISPR stated.
"Execution of death sentence of remaining 254 terrorists is pending completion of legal process in the higher courts."
Those who have been awarded death penalties included masterminds, executers and abettors/ facilitators of, inter alia, following major terrorist incidents:-
a. APS Peshawar attack of 16 December 2014 (5 terrorists executed).
b. Marriot Islamabad terrorist attack, September 2008.
c. Parade Lane terrorist attack, December 2009
d. Attack on ISI office Multan, December 2009.
e. Terrorist attack on four SSG Soldiers including 2 Officers, April 2009 (one terrorist Executed).
f. Attack on ISI office Sukker, November 2010.
g. Bannu Jail Break, April 2012 (one Terrorist executed).
h. Mastung Sectarian terrorist attack, April 2012.
i. Killing of Foreigners in Nanga Parbat, June 2013.
j. Terrorist attack on civilian and security officials at Chalas, August 2013.
k. Terrorist attack on SSP Chaudhary Aslam, January 2014.
l. Karachi Airport attack, June 2014.
m. Terrorists’ attack on Ms Sabin Mehmood, April 2015.
