Court seeks complete JIT report of Dr Asim case

The hearing remains adjourned due to absence of defence lawyer

KARACHI: A special anti-terrorism court on Saturday ordered to submit Dr Asim Hussain's Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report with complete annexures on January 19 in the case regarding the medical treatment of terrorists.

Pak Sarzameen Party President Anees Qaimkhani, Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Rauf Siddiqi and Pasban's Usman Muazzam appeared in the court. The defence lawyer said that Dr Asim was out of country. The MNA Qadir Patel and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhter also did not appear in court. The JIT had not submitted the complete annexures despite the court's orders.

Meanwhile, an accountability court adjourned the hearing of the corruption reference of Rs17 billion against Dr Asim without any proceedings due to the absence of defence lawyer Farooq H Naek.

An application was submitted mentioning that the accused were out of country.
