‘Pakistan is proud of ties with China’

Elahi says future ties between Punjab and Sichuan will increase stability

LAHORE: We are proud of our long-term friendship with China and it has always proven to a valuable ally, states Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

He said future ties between the provinces of Punjab and Sichuan would increase stability. He issued this statement in a conversation with a Chinese parliamentary delegation. Chen Wenhua of the Professional People Congress met the speaker in the assembly chambers.

The speaker told the delegation about the province’s priorities and said the Punjab government is effectively planning to eliminate illiteracy, backwardness and poverty, while boosting public health, education and other basic needs.

He also informed the guests about the structure of the assembly and parliamentary traditions. Elahi maintained Pakistan enjoyed strong ties with the Chinese people. “Governments come and go, but our relationship with China is unbreakable.  We are proud of the long-term friendly relations. China always proved to be a good friend and neighbor and supported Pakistan through its tough times.”

He said CPEC was the best gift for Pakistan and the $46 billion project would not only strengthen the economy of Pakistan and China, but other countries of the region. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the recent visit to China of Prime Minister Imran Khan was a major success.

The speaker hoped that relations between Punjab and Sichuan would further strengthen stability.

The delegation visited to the assembly library and other areas.
