The Bahria Town’s lawyer Azhar Siddique on Thursday took strong exception to the accusations levelled against the real estate developer by the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in a press conference.

In a TV show, he strongly criticised Buzdar, rejecting the allegation levelled against the Bahria Town and claiming that the CM presented incorrect facts and figures. Siddique said the CM only saw land grabbing in case of the Bahria Town, adding that the claim about illegal occupation will have to be proved first.

He said the government by levelling such allegations against the Bahria Town is causing unemployment in Punjab. He strongly refuted the CM’s claim that the Bahria Town has grabbed land of the Punjab Cooperatives Board for Liquidation (PCBL).

“Actually, the PCBL land was a land acquired through a joint account of the Services Cooperative Society and the Bahria Town and the account was not distributed.

“Do you believe that the Bahria Town was so stupid that it constructed a seven star hotel and a community centre worth millions of rupees on someone else’s land? Actually the land of the Bahria Town is occupied by the PCBL. The case is being heard in the high court.”

He said the high court also held investigations into the case through the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and later it was proved that the Bahria Town has not made any illegal action. Actually it was just a mistake.” He said the PCBL was also offered land in exchange of this land.

He said the CM’s statistics were totally wrong. He said the CM said price of the land is Rs2.35 billion, which, he said, is not correct. He said the CM even does not know the difference between raw land and developed land.

He said Buzdar accused the Bahria Town of wrongdoings without doing any homework. “We reject these allegations completely”. He said the Bahria Town has nothing to do with the 240 canal of Ittefaq Foundry land that the CM mentioned in his press conference.

“There is not a single inch state land in Al-Rahmat Housing Society. There was only 4 canal land of small industries and that is in our possession,” he added
