Robbery: SHO pledges to register case against FIA officials

LAHORE:

The station house officer of Liaqatabad police station promised on Friday to register a trespass and robbery case against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials, after an additional district and sessions judge warned him that he would be sent to jail otherwise.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Khizar Hayat Sial had already ordered the officer to register an FIR under Sections 392, 452,149,148,170 and 165 of the Pakistan Penal Code against the FIA officials on a petition complaining that they had ransacked an office, held its workers hostage, and taken away Rs750,000 in cash and valuables. On Friday, the SHO appeared before the court and was given a choice: register an FIR in compliance with court orders, or go behind bars. He then verbally promised to carry out the court orders. According to the petitioner, Advocate Nawas Ameen Sindhu, he went to an immigration consultant’s office in Model Town on April 23 to deposit a fee of Rs550,000 when 12 armed men forced their way in and held everyone at gunpoint. He said they introduced themselves as FIA officers. He said that they beat the hostages and took their mobile phones and wallets.
