LAHORE: Unidentified men broke into the house of a man and kidnapped his five children in Raiwind on Monday.
The victim, identified as Taj Din, told the police that he was at work when unidentified men abducted his children named Maryum, 22, Kiran 20, Millat, 18, Sidra, 10 and Abdullah, 14.
A case has been registered against the suspects and the police are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, at least seven people died, while 1,006 were injured in 910 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of the province during the last 24 hours. Out of the injured, 584 were seriously injured and required shifting to different hospitals. At the same time, 422 minor victims were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams.
Around 63 % accidents involved motorbikes, therefore effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline is essential to reduce this increasing number of road accidents.
According to Rescue 1122, 425 drivers, 21 underage drivers, 163 pedestrians and 425 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 270 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 273 persons. This was followed by 84 in Faisalabad with 105 victims and Multan at third with 68 RTCs and 66 victims.
Moreover, 1,013 victims were affected by road traffic crashes, including 808 males and 205 females. At least 155 were under the 18 year of age while 563 were between 18 and 40 years and 295 victims above 40 years of age. According to the data, 699 motorbikes, 129 auto rickshaws, 85 motorcars, 51 vans, 11 passenger buses, 30 trucks and 96 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in accidents.
