Fans of the hit TV series Game of Thrones have been eagerly awaiting the release of its final season. After much debate on the date of the premiere, HBO last month announced that the first episode of the eight season will air on April 2019.

The networking giant also released a video clip, however, it only featured footage from the last seasons of the show. And now, a brand new 30-second teaser has been launched! While it does not give much detail about what we will see in the upcoming final season, it does hint at how things might pan out in Westeros. Compiled from IGN, here are three clues in the teaser that will make you wish the new episodes get leaked once again.

1. North versus South

The teaser kicks off with a map of Westeros with waves of ice and fire making their way towards each other. This represents the main conflict between life and death that has driven the series from the beginning, from George R R Martin's novels titled Song of Ice and Fire. It implies that the series will end in a final battle between the Night King and Jon Snow-Daenerys Targaryen alliance on the other.

The wave of ice descends from the north of the continent as that is where the last season wrapped up - when the White Walkers breached the Wall and made their way south. The fire rises from the opposite direction, possibly representing Daenerys.

2. Collateral damage

As the ice and fire move closer, a few other kingdoms seem to get caught in their destructive path. The ice takes over most of the towns in the North, before eventually making it to Winterfell. Fans can expect the Stark family home to be a major battle ground in the upcoming season.

On the other hand, King's Landing gets consumed by the fire. This suggests that the conflict between Daenerys and Cersei Lannister might be coming to an end. But whether the Dragon Queen is able to defeat King's Landing and then go on war against the White Walkers is a completely different matter.

3. The turning point

Towards the end of the teaser, a wall of dragon glass is formed when the waves of fire and ice finally meet. Apart from Valyrian steel, dragon glass can also kill White Walkers. This also denotes the critical importance of Daenerys' and Jon's alliance, as only their combination can save Westeros from eternal darkness.

It's also important to note that the point where the two forces meet is possibly The Twins, which was the home ground of House Frey - till Arya Stark destroyed most of the family.
