NAB chief says corrupt will be pursued everywhere

Says as many as 400 references have been filed by the bureau

Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday said the NAB would pursue the corrupt everywhere in the world and no one would be spared and allowed to go free.

“Corruption is mother of all evils and the bureau is committed to root out corruption as eradication of corruption is our national duty, he said while addressing a seminar on “Our Faith, Corruption free Pakistan” at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

He added that NAB is actively working for across the board accountability and as many as 400 references have been filed by the bureau.



Iqbal pointed out that Pakistan had improved it number in the corruption index in terms of its eradication.

He told that Pakistan was on 160 in the corruption list before and is now placed at 107. Responding to a question by students he informed that a total of 59% Pakistanis have expressed satisfaction on of NAB’s performance.

Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said a witch hunt against NAB was initiated by few corrupt circles to avoid accountability but people have rejected this negative move. He reiterated his resolve that NAB will keep working for the accountability without any discrimination and soon poor in the country will enjoy basic prerogatives.

The event was also addressed by Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI suggested that government must include corruption eradication in the curriculum in the light of Islamic teachings.



He said that accountability and justice are hand in hand and nation the nation is fortunate that both attributes are being perfectly observed in the country.

He stressed that youth must be sensitised to address the menace of corruption as it was a global issue and it can be defeated through an imperative contribution by the educational institutions.

IUUI Vice-President Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily, delivered a note of thanks on the occasion to chairman NAB and vowed for arranging such activities in future as well.
