The development comes during meeting between National Security Adviser to Prime Minister of Japan Kentaro Sonoura and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, who had called on him at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Khalilzad reiterates seeking Pakistan’s support to resolve Afghan conflict
"Matters of mutual interest including bilateral security cooperation and overall regional situation were discussed in the meeting," a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
On Tuesday, US diplomat and Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation at the Department of State Zalmay Khalilzad reiterated President Donald Trump’s message of seeking Pakistan’s support for a peaceful resolution to the Afghan conflict.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan had met Khalilzad in the federal capital where the latter relayed Trump’s message and said Washington wants Islamabad’s support in seeking for a peaceful and political resolution in Afghanistan.
