FM Qureshi stresses on bolstering trade, economic relations with regional countries

Govt prioritising bringing improvement in the living standards of the people, says Afridi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi stressed on the need to bolster trade and economic relations among regional countries, Radio Pakistan reported.

Addressing a ceremony held on the occasion of Economic Cooperation Organisation Day in Islamabad on Tuesday, FM Qureshi added that,  "the goal could be achieved by improving connectivity through rail, roads, ports and use of latest technology".

Highlighting the significance of the ECO, the foreign minister stated that the organisation gives great importance to the objectives of regional peace and development. He added that further efforts are required to enhance cooperation among the ECO countries at various levels.

The foreign minister assured that Pakistan will continue to play its role to promote cooperation amongst regional countries in order to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).

'Government prioritising improvement in living standards'

Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi said that the government is giving priority to bringing improvement in the living standards of the people, reported Radio Pakistan.

The minister added that "provision of better health and education facilities and protecting the environment will be given due importance".
