Earlier, on September 10, a woman was abducted and raped in Faisalabad.

Police said that victim R*, a resident of Railway Colony Mohallah, Nishatabad, lodged a complaint at the police station in which she stated that Muhammad Shafique was a friend of her husband. She stated that the accused used to visit their home and promised that he would arrange a job for her in a factory.

She said the culprit took her to a house where he and his accomplices Muhammad Sarwar, Muhammad Muneer and an unidentified man gang-raped her.

In recent months, cases of sexual abuse have been on the rise across Punjab. Despite these incidents occurring on a daily basis, the government’s counter measures have been largely disappointing.

Most cases have been reported from Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala and other parts of the province. The victims include women and minor girls or boys.
