YNA urges govt to set up nursing institutes

Chairperson Parveen says hospitals facing shortage of nursing staff

QUETTA: Young Nurses Association (YNA) Chairperson Nusrat Parveen on Monday urged Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Health Minister Naseebullah Marri to take measures for establishing more nursing institutes in the province to ensure recruitment of the required staff.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Monday, she said there was shortage of nursing staff in hospitals of the province and more institutes to train them were needed.

“Nursing students in Balochistan should be paid stipend at par with other provinces,” she said, urging the CM to take notice of private hospitals that were not paying salary to nurses in accordance with the Supreme Court’s orders.



She claimed that nurses in Balochistan were deprived of a service structure, risk allowance and other basic facilities. She said skilled nurses were moving to other provinces because of this situation.

“In this regard, the provincial government should take steps for resolving the legal issues of nurses and provide relief to them,” she demanded.

Parveen also announced the formation of a panel to address problems of young nurses, including Balochistan YNA President Nayah Mushtaq and Vice President Kamran Shafiq.
