IGP says law and order situation improved in province

Urges provincial govt to release funds for upgradation of police force

QUETTA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan Mohsin Hassan Butt has said police have succeeded in improving the law and order situation in the province, urging the provincial government to release funds for the upgradation of the department.

“Concrete steps taken by the law enforcement agencies have produced better results in the province,” said IGP Butt while addressing the 88th passing-out parade ceremony held at the Police Training Centre, Quetta on Friday.

Additional IG Chaudhry Manzoor Sarwar, Commandant Balochistan Constabulary Additional IG Zubair Ashraf Siddiqi, senior police officers and others were present on the occasion.

“Police are determined to quash all attempts of trying to disrupt peace in the province,” said the IGP, adding that the department had been making all-out efforts to protect the lives and property of the people.

Butt highlighted that the police served as the frontline force in the fight against terrorism, demanding of the government to ensure provision of perks and privileges to the Balochistan police equal to that of the police of other provinces.

He directed the young officers to fulfil their responsibilities with dignity and honour. “Our young generation is our asset and it will work for the development of the country,” said the IGP.

He also directed the youth to ensure protection of citizens and human rights in their respective areas.
As many as 313 recruits participated in the parade. Later, the IGP distributed prizes among the new recruits over their distinctive performance.
