FIA recovers gadgets from accused, interrogates him for further details

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing arrested a man for his alleged involvement in child pornography in Haripur district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.

According to details, the FIA Cybercrime Circle Abbottabad raided a house in Tarbela neighbourhood and arrested Waqar Ahmad who was involved in recording child pornography videos.

FIA officials said that Ahmad was traced with the assistance from Interpol Spain since he had been in contact with international groups dealing in child pornography.

“The suspect was involved in child pornography who would later upload videos on internet,” a senior FIA official told The Express Tribune. “We seized Ahmad’s mobile phone with some videos stored on it along with other digital equipment.”

Officials also said that the suspect was booked under Cyber Crime Act and is being interrogated for further details.

In April, a Lahore court handed down Pakistan's first ever child pornography conviction to a man from Sargodha to seven years in jail and fined him Rs1.2 million.

The judicial magistrate Muhammad Aamir Raza Baitu found Sadat Amin guilty for being part of a global child pornographic racket.
