FAISALABAD:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a passenger at Faisalabad International Airport, who was deported by Azerbaijan on Thursday.

An FIA official told Express News that accused Muhammad Khalil was travelling to Italy via Azerbaijan and Dubai. He added that the suspect used forged documents, including a fake resident card of Italy at Baku International Airport.

He maintained that immigration officials at the airport recognised the fake documents and deported him to Pakistan.

He pointed out that on arrival of the accused at Faisalabad airport, FIA officials took him into custody and registered an FIR No 565/18 against him.

Meanwhile, FIA officials were making efforts to nab the agent who sent the suspect to Azerbaijan on fake documents. Further investigations were under way.

Earlier, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of the FIA arrested eight passengers who were deported by Turkey at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. The deportees were identified as Syed Hassan Raza, Zulfiqar Ali, Toheed Ahmad, Nadeem Faisal, Ghulam Hussain, Muhammad Riaz, Bilal, and Yasir Masih.

During initial investigations, it was revealed that the passengers had travelled to Greece via the land route of Gwadar, Iran and Turkey without any travel documents. The men were arrested by Turkish authorities and deported to Pakistan.
