ISLAMABAD: The CT scan machine at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has been out of order since the past seven days. The patients coming to the biggest hospital of the federal capital have to face severe inconvenience when they come for CT scans and find out that the machine is not working and they had to go somewhere else. Patients coming from far-off areas face an even more taxing journey because of this problem. The PIMS authorities however say the machine shall soon be operational. Moreover, poor patients and their attendants have appealed to the government to ensure supply of medicines as they cannot afford expensive medicines. They also wanted the government to make rules and regulations regarding free medicines in government hospitals. The original medicines should be given to patients, as fake medicines pose a great risk to their health and lives, some of the patients in PIMS hospitals said. The government should make rules and regulations regarding substandard medicines and such companies and their medicines that are already in pharmacy should be banned immediately as it risks the health and lives of patients.
