LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Amjad Javed Saleemi has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the beautification plan of all police lines across the province and ordered the submission of a weekly progress report.

He directed field officers to ensure the cleanliness of residential barracks, parks and corridors within a week. The Punjab IGP said he would pay surprise visits to different police lines and strict action would be taken against those who failed to implement the SOPs.

Saleemi further directed field officers to remove unnecessary walls in front of police lines, besides restoring the original shape of the residential barracks.

He said new saplings should be planted in parks of all police lines so that barren grounds could be utilised. Likewise, electricity wires hanging over the corridors and rooms which could cause fire and any untoward incident should be concealed inside ducts.

Saleemi said the DPO concerned would be responsible for the beautification of the police line and no negligence shall be tolerated. He said all DPOs should send a report on the cleanliness of barracks, corridors, parks, washrooms and plantation of saplings within one week to the central police office.
