PESHAWAR: Conmen duped Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA personal secretary depriving him of Rs0.3 million in the name of a fictitious development project.

Bilal Ahmed, personal secretary of PTI MPA from Lower Dir, filed a complaint of fraud against unidentified men at Peshawar Sharqi police station.

Ahmed said that he had received a phone call from Islamabad by a man who introduced himself as the personal secretary of federal education minister.

The caller told Ahmed a project from USAID has been approved for Lower Dir and they want to hand it over to you because you belong from the ruling party. The caller asked the victim to deposit Rs300,000 in their bank account following which in the first phase, “you will get Prado vehicles and later the project documents.” The victim, mesmerised, deposited Rs385,585 in the said account. However, the next day another call came from the same number demanding more money.

Now, Ahmed said, he got suspicious and on collecting information got to know that no such project existed and neither the person calling was a secretary to the education minister. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
