Chance to learn: Inter-university IT competition proposed

It’s the responsibility of the vice chancellors to provide such opportunities to students, says governor

Senator Rukhsana Zuberi suggested Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to hold Sindh Governor Inter-university IT competition in December 2018, to motivate the varsity students to obtain internationally recognised certification.

She said this at a meeting headed by the governor. The Higher Education Commission Regional Director Javed Memon along with the vice chancellors of 25 of the province’s universities was present on this occasion.


Zuberi informed the participants the aims and objectives of the proposed inter-university competition. She said that Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship is conducted everywhere in America. She added that while it was a good opportunity, it hasn’t gained people’s attention due to a lack of awareness. She said that the proposal to hold Sindh governor interuniversity competition was being presented and she hoped that it would motivate students to take part in this international event.

The Sindh governor emphasised on the importance of IT education. He said that such educational activities were very important and he hoped that these activities would increase the participation of the country’s youth in international competitions. He further said that it was the responsibility of the universities’ vice chancellors to provide such opportunities to the students. He assured the organisers that he would assist to the best of his capabilities.
