Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has said that Pakistan is the fruit of great sacrifices rendered by past generations.

Addressing an event held in Birmingham to collect donations for constructing water reservoirs in the country, he said the greatest sacrifice was given by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who made the freedom of Pakistan the mission of his life and did not even care for his health in pursuing the goal.

He said, “Quaid-i-Azam did not lay the foundation of the country for corruption and embezzlement.”

The chief justice said Pakistan’s water resources and rights had to be protected, adding that water could not be produced in a factory and “this bounty of nature must be valued”.

He said a good plan to control the increase in population would soon be presented to the government.

The chief justice said it is the quality of leadership to set an example for others to follow, adding that consciousness had now developed to do something for the country rather than pursuing personal interests.

Justice Nisar said he held Kashmir dearer than he holds himself. “Upholding the rights of Kashmiris is our duty, not favour,” he added.
