Protection of citizens is a sacred duty: Punjab CM

Buzdar says scope of Dolphin Force will be expanded to other big cities

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said nothing was more important than the maintenance of law and order. He said the protection of citizens was a sacred duty which the personnel of the Dolphin Force were required to perform.

The CM expressed these views while speaking as chief guest at the passing out parade of the 7th batch of 881 recruits of Dolphin Force on Thursday. The ceremony was held at the Police Training College Chung. After Thursday’s passing out, the training process of 2,416 recruited personnel for Lahore has been completed.

Addressing the ceremony, Buzdar congratulated the successful personnel for completing the professional training.

“To me, it is a sacred duty which the jawans of Dolphin Force are required to perform in the field. Nothing is more important than the maintenance of law and order in society. Modern training of the police, provision of latest weapons, along with best facilities, is our policy,” the CM said. “All the required facilities will be provided to the police by the government.”

“It is imperative to extend the scope of the Dolphin Force to other big cities, keeping in view its utility. This force will also be introduced in DG Khan and other less developed areas of the province,” Buzdar announced. He announced that pending projects of a library and gymnasium would be completed in the Police Training College Chung, while the training college project would also be completed soon. He said police training schools would be established in DG Khan, Sahiwal and Sargodha.

“I expect that the 7th batch of the Dolphin Force will prove a valuable asset for the Punjab police and its personnel will win the hearts of the people with their good performance and suave behavior,” the CM remarked. He said the attitude of police personnel towards people should improve and every officer and jawan should play their role in this regard.

“It is the reward of sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army, police and other law enforcement agencies that the incidents of terrorism have been sufficiently decreased,” the chief minister concluded. Buzdar also inspected the parade and distributed prizes among the best performing personnel.

While speaking on the occasion, Inspector General of Police Amjad Javed Saleemi said Dolphin Force played a pivotal role in crime control particularly the street crimes across Lahore since its inception and recently a robbery bid was foiled by Dolphin Force at a local bank. “The force has also unblocked 18,469 spots for traffic, provided first aid to 2,576 injured persons on roads and also recovered 291 theft mobiles.

IGP Punjab further said the training of successful recruits of the Dolphin Force has been made on modern and standard parameters under the supervision of Turkish qualified master trainers.

On the occasion, the IGP applauded the Chung training centre administration, particularly Police Training College Commandant Faran Baig for managing such a modern and quality training. He expressed satisfaction that the squad would secure the streets of the city.

The IGP presented conventional souvenir of Punjab Police to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. Additional Chief Secretary Captain (retd) Ejaz, Additional IGP Training Tariq Masood Yaseen, Additional IGP Operations Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Additional IGP Elite Police Force Shahid Haneef, Additional IGP CTD Rai Tahir, CCPO Lahore BA Nasir, DIG Training Muhammad Idress, DIG Headquarters, Babar BAkht Qureshi, DIG Establishment Sajjad Hassan Manj, DIG SPU Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry and DIG Operations Lahore Waqas Nazeer with other senior officers were present on the occasion.
