KARACHI: The department of education at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (Szabist), in collaboration with LearnTech.pk, held a symposium on ‘Redefining the Role of Educational Technology in 21st century’ on November 17. The panelists discussed opportunities, challenges, and potential of changing classroom practices through information, communication and technology (ICT). They spoke of the improvements they witnessed in developing literacy in remote areas of Sindh and Chitral after integrating technology and how technology has enabled them to access remote areas. The keynote speaker, Teachers’ Development Centre Director Abbas Hussain, said that the external environment for today’s teachers and learners has become volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous while Nur Ali Tejani, an educational technologist, talked about exploring the possibilities of bringing innovative learning through technology.
