Authorities said that Saadullah, the 24-year-old suspect, works at a local petrol station, and was known to have smoke hashish and drink moonshine.

Saadullah came home and asked for money from Tasleema Bibi, 55, to purchase intoxicants, upon her refusal to do so, he sprayed her with seven bullets.

Tasleema, who hailed from Peshawar, was residing in Sanghani Town with her four daughters. Her husband had passed away seven years ago.

The victim's body was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for medico-legal requirements with the body now being handed over the victim's family.

A case has also been registered against the suspect and a probe is underway to catch the culprit.

On October 10, Peshawar police apprehended a man who allegedly killed his mother for, what he claimed, eloping with a man.

The accused, identified as Hassan, managed to flee after committing the murder. However, a special police team arrested the accused within 24 hours of the crime, and recovered the pistol used.
