These views were expressed by University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa on Tuesday. He was speaking at a seminar on ‘Self Assessment Report” organised by the quality enhancement cell at UAF. He said that the time had come to set result-oriented goals that deliver. He stated that research for the sake of research makes no difference in people’s lives.
“Researchers have to come up with viable solutions and products to redress the public’s grievances,” he maintained. Until the 60s, the people of the country were witnessing prosperity. After that, the socioeconomic condition started to steadily deteriorate with each passing year, he said.
“Despite being an agrarian society, the country is importing seeds, vegetables and materials to breed animals that cost billions of rupees,” he said. He urged agricultural experts to looks into the matter and to devise a comprehensive strategy to overcome it. “Qualitative change is imperative to excel in every sphere,” he said.
