Man kills sister over ‘family honour’

FAISALABAD:

A woman was killed by her brother last Friday after she was accused by her in-laws of having an illicit relationship with a neighbour.

Talking to The Express Tribune on Tuesday, Naureen’s brother, Muhammad Aslam, 25, a resident of Chak No 392-GB Tandlianwala, said he had killed her because she had brought bad name to the family. He said Naureen had been married to his brother-in-law for two years.

Naureen was sent home by her in-laws last week, her uncle said. He said that her husband had refused to live with her alleging that she was seeing a neighbour. “He said he had tried to persuade her to mend her ways but she would not listen,” her uncle said.

An FIR was registered against Aslam under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code in Tandlianwala police station. However the accused had not been arrested till the filing of the report.

Station house officer Muhammad Azhar Cheema said that they were investigating the case.

He said police had not yet raided the suspect’s house after his family gave an assurance that they would surrender the man in a couple of days.

waqas | 13 years ago | Reply lets suppose the allegations on her was substantial, then, which religion has given the authority to brothers and husbands to take women's life ? the problem with us is, we love gossiping about other people's women and unfortunately, other gives more attention to them than the reality.
