
The police have arrested three people in this regard and recovered a Kalashnikov automatic rifle from them.
The action was taken after Justice Siddiqui’s widow Dr Ashraf Saeeduz Zaman lodged a complaint with the Murree police with sections of attempted murder, land grabbing, illegal confinement, causing damage and other crimes.
She named Dr Irfanullah Kundi, his nephew Inayatullah, a gunman and three others as responsible.
The former CJP’s wife told the police that Dr Kundi and Inayatullah had allegedly shot straight at her with a Kalashnikov from which she barely escaped with her life.
Subsequently, a police squad led by Tarbat picket in-charge Sub-Inspector Iftikhar raided the houses of Dr Kundi and other co-accused late on Saturday.
During the raids, they managed to arrest three people including the alleged gunman Sahir. Other’s arrested included Dr Kundi’s relatives Ashfaq and Arshad. A Kalashnikov and double cabin car were also recovered.
Dr Kundi and Inayatullah are said to have mysteriously disappeared from their homes ahead of the raids. However, police officers said they were looking for their hideouts to arrest them.
Murree Police Station SHO Inspector Basharat Abbasi said that Dr Kundi is an ophthalmologist by profession and operates an eye-clinic in the posh Blue Area of Islamabad.
Moreover, he owns around 150 Kanals of land near the Judicial Colony where former CJP also had land.
Inspector Abbasi added that Dr Kundi has had land disputes with locals before.
However, based on the first information report (FIR) filed, they were utilising all resources to arrest the main suspect and his nephew.
