ISLAMABAD: The youth must be equipped with modern techniques of entrepreneurship aiming to help them create job opportunities for other young people.

This was stated by the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) Executive Director Dr SM Junaid Zaidi while interacting with members of the organising committee, ambassadors and bloggers at the beginning of the International Students Convention and Expo 2018 at COMSATS, a statement released on Sunday said.

Zaidi further said he was pleased to learn that the first ever international student convention was being organised in Pakistan and hoped that it would provide an opportunity to the educated youth to deliberate over common challenges by sharing their strengths.

He remarked that young people have a crucial role to play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, and stressed upon the need to encourage active participation of youth in every sphere of life especially in achieving the desired level of sustainable socio-economic development.

He hoped that a special session on SDGs would highlight the effective role of youth in this regard.

Sharing the main features of convention, the Inter-University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences Pakistan (IUCPSSP) National Coordinator Murtaza Noor said that the convention and exhibition are scheduled to be held on December 11-13 in Islamabad under the theme, "Securing Our Future."
