KARACHI:

Alleged sectarian killer Muntazir Imam was sent to prison by the Anti-Terrorism Courts Administrative Judge for two days on Wednesday after a medical certificate attested that his treatment was complete.

Imam is accused of killing more than 12 men including a noted scholar. He was hospitalised at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

When he was produced before the AJ on June 1, he complained of police torture while in custody of the Crime Investigation Department.

The accused showed the judge torture marks, he had multiple injuries on his lower torso and back - and was then examined by a Sindh High Court doctor.

He was then admitted to JPMC.

On Wednesday, the CID police produced him before the court with a medical certificate issued by JPMC doctors, according to which he has been treated and discharged.

The AJ sought a correction in the certificate and then ordered that accused be sent to prison.

He also directed that the certificate should be submitted after it has been corrected.

The judge also summoned all the nine investigation officers on Friday along with the accused.
